Luxury Marketing Council of San Francisco Honors Meritage with Community Service Award

Resort Recognized for Services Provided During 2017 Napa and Sonoma Fires

Napa, Calif. (February 20, 2018) – The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa, California, is proud to be honored by the Luxury Marketing Council of San Francisco for its efforts to help the community and first responders during the Napa and Sonoma Fires in October 2017. On February 28 the resort will receive the Rising Star Award for Community Service during the Council’s 6th Annual Wineries Boot Camp in Yountville.

“It was our honor to be able to serve so many community members and first responders during the difficult time we all faced last October,” said Shashi Poudyal, managing director for The Meritage Resort. “Receiving this award is a testament to the dedication of our team members who all worked together to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming place for our community.”

The Rising Star Award for Community Service is awarded each year to an organization or business in Napa or Sonoma that provides programs or initiatives to support communities in need, fills an unfulfilled need in the community, and/or garners growing community support because of its ideals, mission and results. A panel of 12 industry leaders made final selections from 140 candidates across five award categories that also included Winery of the Year, Winemaker of the Year, Marketer of the Year, and Hospitality & Guest Relations Award.

As an active member of the community, The Meritage Resort provided more than 2,500 discounted room nights to displaced residents and first responders, served more than 7,500 complimentary meals in its ballroom, offered a safe and comfortable guest lounge for all members of the community with WIFI, charging stations, news coverage, water, coffee, snacks, and a children’s area with movies and coloring books, plus provided soaps, shampoos, clean linens and laundry service to regional evacuation centers.
